Situated on rich Vina loam soil with extensive water resources, Farmelot provides specialty crops to the realm of Northern California. These crops include heirloom and old world varieties of local vegetables, fruits, and nuts, which are favored at local farmers markets and grocery stores. Find Farmelot produce at the Chico Natural Foods Cooperative, Berryvale Natural Foods Grocery, and other famed merchants in the land!
Community-Based Agricultural Knowledge
Farmelot recognizes that investing in local, sustainable agriculture must include the sharing of knowledge in addition to produce. To this end, Farmelot provides hands-on educational opportunities to aspiring farmers and others who value locally grown food.
Working collaboratively with Chico State and other institutions of higher learning, Farmelot offers internships and independent study opportunities for students. Dr. Bruce has taught sustainable vegetable production at Chico State, and Farmer James is a small farm expert in production and sustainability.
