Summer
Cucumbers
Our special Japanese cucumbers are a real treat! The variety we grow have a sweet, tender skin and are crunchy inside. They are delicious and very versatile! We can lots of pickles with these too and they turn out phenomenal.
Heirloom
Tomatoes
We grow over 40 different heirloom tomato varieties. Some of our favorites are: Kellogg’s Breakfast Tomato (Farmer James’ favorite), Black Japanese Truffel (Farmer Bruce’s favorite) and Cherokee Purple Tomatoes
Peppers
Our favorite peppers are the Italian frying peppers, Marconi’s. They have a thin skin and are full of rich flavor. They are great to eat raw, use in salsas (because they are less watery than other varieties) and roast/fry with some EVOO and garlic to put on a fresh piece of bread and make a classic fried pepper Italian sandwich.
Fall
Winter Squash
We grow all the favorites! Butternut, Honeynut, Spaghetti squash, Acorn, Kabocha and so many more… come by our farmers market booth to see one of the many varieties we grow that we can almost guarantee you probably haven’t seen anywhere else. Try a different variety and see how delicious they can be
Walnuts
Our farm used to be entirely walnut trees. As the years passed and the trees became more vintage than us, we replaced a lot of the dying and aged trees with growing fields. Currently only 7 acres of walnut orchards remain. We have Hartley and Chandler walnuts. The Hartley is a vintage variety that is meaty, rich and so delicious. Our Fav. Because we have such a small amount that we harvest and shell all by hand, there is a limited supply each year. Come early to the market because these sell out fast!
Winter
Lettuce
Red butter, butter crunch, artisan romaine, little gem, red leaf, oak leaf, green leaf, deers tongue and more… We grow lettuce year round, but offer the widest variety in the colder months.
Broccoli
Nothing compares to the sweet and fresh taste of local farm grown broccoli, harvested the day before purchase. Look out for our special purple broccoli at a market near you!
Persimmons
We have two different kinds of persimmons. Fuju and Hachiya.
Kholrabi
Kohlrabi is more commonly known on the east coast. But you don’t want to miss this funny looking vegetable! Beneath it’s green exterior, is a sweet and crunchy vegetable that is versatile. Eat raw, dip in hummus,
shred in salads, coleslaw or roast, mash, cream into a soup! Check out our recipe section for our favorite way to make this fun veggie.
Carrots
We grow one variety of carrot and its sweet and crunchy. We always sell out fast, so get to the markets early to get your hands on some.
Longevity Series of Greens
Sissy, Sassy and Sensational are their names. Offered year round. There’s something for everyone! Our sissy offers a sweet mix of most tender and sweet lettuces, while sassy and sensational have more greens mixed in. We also grow arugula, radicchio, frisse, kale, spinach and much more!
Endive/Escarol
Originating in Italy, we dug into our roots to grow lots of these delicious chicory variety greens. They are great to eat for your liver, as most bitter variety greens are, but don’t be mistaken they are tasty! In the winter, they develop their best flavor once the nights get cold and we have our first frost. Our favorite way to eat these is in a salad and sauted with olive oil and garlic, add sausage if you’re a meat eater and make a french bread sandwich (we love homemade sourdough with ours!)
